Dear Visitor

If you are playing golf on the Montrose Links courses you are very welcome to use the ROYAL MONTROSE club house as your base. You can obtain access information from the Montrose Golf Links Pro Shop.

Our Club Bar is open every day (see times above) and Coffee, Changing and Toilet facilities are available from 7am until close of business.

We also welcome full-catered parties and private functions.

FREE WI-FI is available to all Club Members and Visitors - Just select RMGC-FREE-WIFI from your Smartphone, Tablet or Laptop wireless settings and press connect (NO PASSWORD REQUIRED).

Tee bookings for the Montrose courses are managed by Montrose Golf Links Ltd, Tel: 01674-672932, or via the Montrose Links online booking site (see below).

WELCOME to the Royal Montrose Golf Club

Founded on 1st January 1810 as the Montrose Golf Club, and reputed to be the 9th oldest golf club in the world.

In 1845 Prince Albert bestowed Royal Patronage on the Club, and the name was changed to the Montrose Royal Albert Golf Club, making it the third oldest Royal Club in the world.  click here for MORE detail

In 1986 the Royal Albert Golf Club merged with the Victoria Golf Club to form the Royal Montrose Golf Club. 

We are honoured to have HRH Prince Andrew, Duke of York, as our current patron.



Golf is recorded as being played over Montrose Links  since 1562 and it is reputed to be the 5th oldest golf course in the world.

Montrose Championship Medal course has enjoyed the honour of hosting several high-profile events over the last 150 years including the Scottish Professional’s Championship, the Scottish Amateur Championship, the British Boys Championship and Internationals, and the Final Qualifying Competition for The Opens held at nearby Carnoustie in 1999 and 2007, and the Senior Open at Carnoustie in 2016.

Europro Tour events have been held successfully each year since 2013, and will be held again in  June 2017.
